Good morning Lord Jesus, This morning I seek to receive your love so I can give out your love…
“Don’t steal. “Don’t lie. “Don’t deceive anyone.
12 “Don’t swear falsely using my name, violating the name of your God. I am God.
13 “Don’t exploit your friend or rob him.
“Don’t hold back the wages of a hired hand overnight.
14 “Don’t curse the deaf; don’t put a stumbling block in front of the blind; fear your God. I am God. 15 “Don’t pervert justice. Don’t show favoritism to either the poor or the great. Judge on the basis of what is right.16 “Don’t spread gossip and rumors.
“Don’t just stand by when your neighbor’s life is in danger. I am God.
17 “Don’t secretly hate your neighbor. If you have something against him, get it out into the open; otherwise you are an accomplice in his guilt.
18 “Don’t seek revenge or carry a grudge against any of your people.
“Love your neighbor as yourself. I am God.
19 “Keep my decrees. (Leviticus 19:11-19, The Message Bible)
The Holy Spirit has me continuing in my reflection I began yesterday on loving my neighbor. I read the divinely inspired words above posted though God in our Bible. Then I read the words of Christian people posted on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media. I listen to the words of politicians who claim to be Christians that personally attack there opponent, or those of one political party against another. I sit at the Waffle House counter and listen to the conversations of customers and employees. I listen to the conversations of people at my work. And there is a strong and obvious contrast between the Words of God and the words of people in all these conversations that enter my being today. They are saddening my soul.
Jesus gave us what we call the “Golden Rule;” “In everything, treat others as you would want them to treat you, for this fulfills the law and the prophets.” Matthew (7:12)
God spoke to us His wisdom through Solomon’ “Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, and do not deceive with your words.
Do not say, “I will do to him just as he has done to me; I will pay him back according to what he has done.” (Proverbs 28:28-29)
We as Christians need to love our neighbors. In all the many ways we can communicate to people today through conversations either personally, in texts, emails and on social medias, we need to post and converse as if we are posting to our neighbor. We need to post as a witness of persons under the Lordship of Jesus. We need to post with love.
With the reach of social media conversations, the whole world is now our neighbor. Jesus, in His parable of “The Good Samaritan” found in Luke 10 states that everyone is our neighbor. And Jesus closes this parable with; “Which of these three do you think became a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” The expert in religious law said, “The one who showed mercy to him.” So Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.” (Luke 10:36)
My family, I pray today we all obey Jesus words and “Go and do the same” in all our conversations and interactions with our “Neighbors.” In Jesus’ name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you my friends!
I invite you to please share in the comments box below ways you have or are loving your neighbors to encourage us.
